Sure...the better the bot the more time someone has to spend making it better...but the better the bot the harder it is to tell its a bot.

Ban bots....meh...I don't really really care because I don't view them as being the problem. The problem is that some armor/weapons and materials that are nearly essential to play competitively require more gold than you gain simply from doing missions, therefore you must farm....hence the gold farmers who sell to people who dont have time to farm but money to blow.
The point of those armors as I'm sure you know are for people to farm.

Bots dont get 15k armor. Bots get Ascalon Post Sear armor with they're runes and run around.

Farmers spend they're time farming for items, gold, and crafting material to show they're devotion to the game. I am one of those players. I have 15k Hydromancer armor and I worked (NOT BOUGHT) for every piece of gold that bought my materials and my dye.

I like farming. I dont like it when Bots who are made, used, and sold are here to sell more gold to lazy players who give us, the good players and 'true' farmers that ANET allows, a bad rap and rips us off.

Quoted for truth I can't really comprehend because its so very right.

Anyway, I agree with the OP. Of course, this is because if Elona is reached..people might realize how simple Hydra farming is. And if they nerf Hydras, I'll cry. :'(

I'm against this bot thing but I don't see any point Anet banning these bots. If Anet bans them, these people can simply buy another account and fire up bots again. It's like a rinse and repeat process. Also, Anet benefits from this in a way. By banning these accounts, they just buy another account and in return Anet makes money. You can sort of say it's a win-win situation for both Anet and these people using bots to farm gold and sell them for real life money.

I don't really see any real effective solution to this bot problem. Anet cannot completely stop this bot issue but they can slow it down. Instead of banning these accounts. May be Anet can temporary suspend these accounts. Like suspend the account for a few days and if the account is caught botting again, suspend it again. This way, the person who is using a bot to farm will produce a much lower amount of gold. It would be a waste of money for this person to go out and buy another account because their current account with the bot is not completely banned. But if you really think about it. These bots is a good thing for Anet but not for us. Anet makes more money when they ban these accounts since the people running these bots go out and buy more copies of Guild Wars. For us, we get are nerfed areas.

That is the problem as I see it. People complain about 'bots' overrunning an area and Anet, in order to appease the masses, nerfs the area. Bots move on and we, the players, get the short end of the stick. Let the bots be, and stop asking for area nerfs.

Well if that is the issue then why not just cut the middle man and have anet sell gold for r/l money? I mean there must be some profit in having a bunch of farming bots running, selling the gold, having those bots banned, and then just buying new accounts. Otherwise we wouldn't see so many bots running continually. But that would probably be even worse for the economy than the bots.

So ban the bots, nerfing an area just forces bots to a new area and doesn't address the issue of selling gold over ebay for r/l money.

You know if Anet put a strong cooldown rate for "farmers" sort of like the more the person farms the longer the crappier the items get and even no gold drops maybe this might help. Right now I see no real solution to botting.

As to why,

Supposedly the ghostly hero at the start of the mission is good, for getting the bots bearing straight, by simply using the v command -they get the map in sync when running toward the friendly npc, and not random as when they started. and can then execute their preset commands.

If the ghostly hero was further in, and not as easily to locate, or had a more random spawn position. the bots would have more trouble , to say the least, for not ending up at walls

the entire game is being ruined by the bots, and i dont want to hear anyone saying that you cant ban bots b/c you cant identify exactly who all of them are, its very easy, just chill in elona rech for 5 seconds and watch 100 mo/w running to exactly teh same place(merchant then storage)

minotaurs (loads of them) and dune burrowers

But I agree : don't nerf the actual spot- it doesn't solve anything because the bots will simply pick another location leaving the casual farmers empty-handed ( it's not like you can make huge amounts of cash there in a short time anyway ).

Farmers come from many nations.

However, banning farmers doesn't really hurt business. They just buy a new copy to replace the banned account and start over.

well another reason to ban the bots and NOT nerf elona is the fact that well... its something I notice...

if there are less people in an outpost, there is less lag, and for me being on just yahoo dsl, when i go into elona for my casual farming to get 1-2k every now and then, I find myself spending half the time loading up everyone else's character which is just 10000 Mo/W's moving in synch. and it just lags the hell outta me

booting these bots will help lag for some people like me too

I find no actual solution excpet that PEOPLE DONT BUY GOLD AT EBAY. Its not even worth it at all. Otherwise I dont really see how bots will get stopped.
